Sanderson are delighted to congratulate Loren Marks, Scott Cai and Molly Timmins, who have each been selected as finalists for the Molly Morpeth Canaday Award 2026.
Celebrating its 40th year the Molly Morpeth Canaday Award is Aotearoa’s longest-running national art award and provides an important platform for contemporary artistic practice.
This year saw a record 638 artworks submitted, from which 87 finalists were selected through a blind judging process.

Previous Sanderson artists who have been shortlisted include Kate van der Drift, Josephine Cachemaille, Mickey Smith and Kāryn Taylor.
To see Marks, Cai and Timmins represented among this year’s finalists is a wonderful recognition of the strength and diversity of their respective practices and we are incredibly proud to see their work recognised by the award.
The finalists’ exhibition opens at Whakatāne Art Gallery in November, with Judy Darragh ONZM serving as guest judge. The award ceremony will take place on 14 November 2026, followed by the public opening and judge’s talk on 15 November.
