Sanderson are delighted to announce the exhibition Nowhere, Now Here by Li Si Rong will open Sept 16th

Li Si Rong (b. 1994, Taiwan) is a Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland-based artist whose multidisciplinary practice explores everyday life, dreams, memory and the relationships between people, objects and their environments. Working across painting, sculpture, photography and installation, Li draws upon daily observations, found or familiar forms to create poetic, surreal worlds in which the ordinary becomes newly profound. Her works are characterised by delicate, hair-fine linework, translucent colour and an attentive approach to material and detail.

Recurring motifs are drawn from nature, domestic spaces and everyday objects allowing Li to consider ideas of belonging, connection, community and care.

Li completed an MFA at Elam School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland in 2021 and received the Creative New Zealand Early Career Fund – Toi Tipu Toi Rea in 2024. Recent exhibitions include Murmuration at Sanderson (2025), RM Gallery and Project Space (2024), Studio One Toi Tū (2023).

An essay by Amy Stewart will accompany the exhibition
