DJCS (Pākehā: Dutch, Ashkenazi) is a curator from Ngāmotu, based in Pōneke, and the founder of COMMODE, an independent curatorial platform dedicated to experimental and critical discourse. Their work is grounded in institutional critique, approaching curating, conversation, writing, research, and exhibition making as forms of inquiry through which the material conditions and politics of contemporary art can be analysed and challenged.
They were Director of Enjoy Contemporary Art Space (2022–2025); Assistant Curator, Artspace Aotearoa (2021–2022); Founder and Director, Parasite (2020–2022); Co-Director, RM Gallery and Projectspace (2016–2018); and worked within and alongside public, commercial, and artist-run galleries in Aotearoa since 2012.
