Sanderson Contemporary was transformed into a glittering celebration for Fashion Quarterly’s 45th birthday.
On a balmy summer's evening in November, down the cobbled brick lane of Kent Street, Newmarket - the gallery became the setting for one of the most glamorous fashion events of the year, as New Zealand’s fashion community converged to honour and celebrate the iconic magazine’s legacy.
The historic lane shimmered with black carpet arrivals and softly glowing lights, welcoming guests into a world of understated luxury and elegance.
A special exhibition unveiled Fashion Quarterly’s long-lost archival treasures, offering an intimate glimpse into four and a half decades of style, storytelling and cultural influence. Guests dressed for the occasion in sparkling black items. Oysters were served, glasses of Taittinger flowed, and Partridge Jewellery added a refined sparkle to the night. A roaming saxophonist drifted through the space as DJ duo Radieux elevated the atmosphere with a celebratory soundtrack, creating a mood that felt effortlessly cool and fun.
It was a honour for the team at Sanderson to host Fashion Quarterly’s 45th birthday. The event was a celebration of the history of New Zealand fashion and was a testiment to the enduring relationship between fashion and art; and the creative spaces of Aotearoa New Zealand - the stories and people that continue to shape them.
