The annual award is presented by Te Uru Waitākere Contemporary Gallery and provides a vital platform for showcasing the diversity of contemporary clay practices in Aotearoa.
Cromwell’s practice is an ongoing exploration into how vessels can explore the histories of their physical form, as well as embody intangible qualities such as the sensual and ethereal.
Cromwell lives and works in Northland. She graduated from Derbyshire University, UK, with a major in Studio Ceramics and in 2019 she completed her Master of Fine Arts at Whitecliffe College of Arts & Design, Aotearoa. Cromwell was the first-prize winner of the Glaister Ennor Graduate Art Awards 2019 and was a finalist in the Richard T Nelson Award in 2022. Cromwell was recently announced the New Regional Council Member for Ceramics New Zealand Northland.
