Sally Barron
Barron’s recent body of work is titled ‘Unfinished: Walking and Painting’. The artist works in oils, water-based mediums and collage.
Barron explores interconnectedness, emergence, and provisionality to interrogate the open-ended nature of painting. She approaches art-making as a fluid, metabolising process rather than a static or resolved state, examining the interplay between thought and material.
Barron likens painting to the meditative process of walking: like a ‘leisurely flaneur through the streets’. The artist states during her final year of completing her masters degree that she found a direct link between walking, movement and the developing nature of her art.
‘Walking sustains my practice, with daily observations shaping my approach to painting, keeping the work open and unfinished.’
