Scott Eady recently spent three months in the Russian far east city of Vladivostok as the recipient of the inaugral Wallace Trust supported residency.

This new body of work investigates things from the everyday, which had a profound effect on the direction of Eady’s research while on the residency. The process of making in Russia was limited by what tools and materials were available. Some works were made in collaboration with amateur local film and gaming enthusiasts, while others have been produced in New Zealand by industry professionals. By bridging connections between the collected materials and influences, original meaning becomes subverted and sometimes embraced, to form new local and sometimes global narratives closely related to society, politics and economy.
