Manaia Thomas-Bloom is a multidisciplinary artist Based in Tāmaki Makaurau. She recently graduated from Elam School of Fine Arts.
The artist’s practice predominantly focuses on acrylic painting and ceramic sculpture, utilising these materials as vessels through which to create realms of small-scale detail and texture.
Through her chosen mediums the artist explores ideas surrounding the societal and personal relationships between both the human body and the natural world. Drawing from concepts of folklore and fantasy, the artist creates her own mythology, a process through which she attempts to find a pathway back to an ideal position within nature.
