'City Construction', a handmade screenprint by well known artist Ted Dutch, displays the technical mastery that runs through the entire course of his work. While initially appearing quick and simple, renderings have a compositional complexity and precision in application that make them compelling long after the viewer has taken in the immediately obvious scene. Detailed line work and intricately layered planes of colour add further elements of interest to the piece, presenting a complex and overwhelming sense of a metropolis in front of which colourful cranes perform their mechanical tasks towards building the city further out and up.
