This cartoon has been reproduced from the Muldoon era many times by various publications and educational books and journals. It was first published by The Auckland Star in 1979 following the Muldoon budget in which the National Party President, Sir George Chapman, described Muldoon's control of finance 'a miracle'. Bromhead's cartoon summed up the reality of the 'miracle' with this famous cartoon.
