Dave Beazley’s paintings are immediately attractive to the eye. His candy-coated pastel hues and soft colourings entice a viewer to look – their initial effect is comforting. From a distance these seemingly sinless paintings resemble a children's book illustration through his palette and then his figures which, upon initial inspection automatically links them to the innocence of a child-like narrative. Upon closer scrutiny we will find their eccentric subjects – packed with eyeballs, insects and sinister plant forms. His intention is to beguile the viewer with wholesome reverie that has a melancholic narrative imbedded within it – a feast for the visual sense that reverts between sweet and sour and back again.
